RESS Night Of Recognition Awards

 

Every year RESS recognizes the best and brightest student groups and individuals through our Night of Recognition awards. Do you have an engineering student group or individual who made a significant impact on your time at Ryerson? Then nominate them for an award for this upcoming RESS Night of Recognition 2019! Details of each award can be found below, and if you have any questions please email awards@ress.ca

+ General Information

The nominees will be chosen by the Awards and Excellence Committee based on the criteria outlined for each specific award, as well as a fair comparison to the other nominees for the award. Please ensure that the reasoning behind a nomination is stated clearly in the application form and that any supporting materials, if required, are sent in as per the instructions in the application form. The committee may request for additional information or clarification when determining successful nominations. This may be resolved by email(s) and/or interview(s) between the nominee(s) and/or nominator(s) and at least one member of the Awards and Excellence Committee. The time and location of any meeting will be agreed upon by the interviewee(s) and the committee member(s). Thank you for your cooperation and good luck to any nominees.

+ Group Awards

Most Active Group on Campus: Group that hosted the most events and activities on campus and/or promoted often on campus through print and online campaign

Sheldon Levy Student Group of the Year: Group that performed outstandingly throughout the year while promoting themselves within Ryerson and to external parties while engaging students all year long

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award: Given to a group that has demonstrated initiative to make the group more accessible and inclusive in order to promote equity, diversity and inclusion.

Best Professional Event: Group that executed an event focused on career and mentorship

Best Academic Event: Group that executed an event or series of events focused on learning

Inter-collaboration Award: Given to a group that collaborates with other groups/ members of other Faculties at Ryerson to bring events and opportunities to Ryerson Engineering students.

Corporate Relations Award: Creates excellent relationships with external organization while promoting Ryerson Engineering and Ryerson University

Best Charity Event: Given to a group that has raised awareness for charities through events and/or contributed to the charity itself

Advancement Award: Group that has performed outstandingly to show its growth and become more active in the community.

Sustainability Award: Group that has shown focus on sustainability and promoted the use of alternative methods to incorporate a more sustainable design on any project.

Adversity Award: (Design Team): A design team that overcame technical or non-technical obstacles and represented a great deal of adversity

+ Individual Awards

Mohamed Lachemi Student Leader of the Year: Student who has contributed the most to Ryerson Engineering by raising awareness of the Ryerson Engineering Community and volunteering through numerous events.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award: Given to an individual and a group. Promotes Equity, Diversity and Inclusion within Ryerson Engineering by creating awareness through promotion or events.

Sustainability Award: Individual that has shown focus on sustainability and promoted the use of alternative methods to incorporate a more sustainable design on any project.

Inter-collaboration Award: Given to an individual that collaborates with other groups/ members of other Faculties at Ryerson to bring events and opportunities to Ryerson Engineering students.

Corporate Relations Award: Creates excellent relationships with external organization while promoting Ryerson Engineering and Ryerson University

Most Involved Student Award: Student who has actively volunteered with various Ryerson Engineering activities and events and does not hold a position in any student group.

President’s Award: Student who has volunteered in various RESS related initiative, activities and events and does not hold a position on RESS’ Board of Directors

Ryerson Engineering Exceptional Leader Award (Max 3): Student who has supported the growth of Ryerson Engineering through positive actions internally and externally Ryerson. This includes facilitating relationships and a positive image of Ryerson Engineering with Faculty, Industry, students, etc.

Ryerson Engineering Outstanding Faculty Member Award (Max 2): Faculty members who have made an outstanding effort in the engineering community. One award goes to a Professor or academic Faculty member and the other goes towards a Faculty staff member

The Zohair Khan Delegate Award: Awarded to the individual that has shown initiative (events, conferences, policy and advocacy changes and projects etc) within the community and has brought back the most from a conference/competition. These conferences and competitions are not exclusive to those presented by RESS.
